Dr. Ca-Asia Lane

Dr. Ca-Asia Lane is a retired U.S Army Commissioned Military
Police Officer with over 20+ years of active-duty military service.
Prior to retirement, she served on Army staff as the Executive
Officer for the Army Suicide Prevention Office. She also served
as a military strategist for Army Secretary and former House of
Representatives, Congressman John McHugh. In 2008 Ca-Asia
was selected as a Defense Congressional Fellow and served in
the Office of the late Congressman Elijah Cummings, Baltimore,
MD. Among the many military assignments and deployments,
her most rewarding has been company commander, where she
deployed a combat Military Police Company in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2005-2006.

Ca-Asia recently served as the Director for the Veterans Health Legislative Affairs, Office of Congressional & Legislative Affairs at the VA, where she supervised congressional, legislative and strategic planning for the Veterans Health Administration, lead a team that covered portfolios such as, Women Veterans and Minority Veterans Health, Behavioral/Mental Health, Veterans Homelessness, Suicide Prevention and Substance Abuse. Ca-Asia is an advocate for suicide prevention and awareness and is a supporter of suicide survivors. Since the loss of her husband in 2008, her own personal story is one of help, healing and hope after tragedy, which she has shared as a 2020 TEDx Veterans Affairs Alum.

 

In addition to over twenty plus years of federal service in numerous leadership positions and as an academic biblical researcher, Ca-Asia uses dance, leadership and the discussion of women in leadership to disrupt the social norms of leadership roles within the culture of dance ministry and ecclesial leadership and, to provoke change in the dialogue centered around leadership development. Her academic studies and military travels have allotted her the opportunity to travel frequently throughout the United States and internationally, providing instruction and mentorship in liturgical dance
ministry and leadership---which is her passion.


Ca-Asia recently completed her PhD studies in Organizational Leadership at Regent University, Virginia Beach, VA. Her dissertation is titled, Exploring the Dichotomy of Women in Ecclesial Leadership During the Pauline Mission: A Socio-rhetorical Analysis of Romans 16:1-16 and 1 Corinthians 11:1-16 and 14:26-40. Ca-Asia is also a graduate of Armstrong Atlantic State University, Savannah, GA; Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA; and Georgetown University, Washington DC. Ca-Asia is the author of numerous books to include, Free to Dance, A Suicide Survivor’s Memoir; Changing the Dance, Leadership Nuggets for Dance Ministry Leaders and, Christian Leaders as Artists, A Three-Ring Cord of Creativity, Imagination and Innovation.
